Antique Bohemian liquor service dating from the late 19th century. The set is distinguished by its sophisticated combination of cobalt blue blown glass and profuse gold enamel decoration, presented on a metal structure ornamented with botanical motifs and a mirror background.
History of the object: This type of tableware was a centerpiece in the salons of the European upper bourgeoisie. Presumably produced in the region of Bohemia (now the Czech Republic), it reflects the technical mastery of the glass workshops of the time in the application of gilding on colored glass, following the aesthetics of historicism.
Technical details: - Period: Late 19th century (circa 1890-1900). - Technique: Blown glass, hand-enameled in gold, and brass mounting. - Stand dimensions: Approximate height of 28 cm (11.0 inches), width of 18 cm (7.1 inches). - Decanter dimensions: Height of 19 cm (7.5 inches) with stopper. - Material: Cobalt glass, brass, mirror glass. - Conservation status: The set includes the decanter with its original stopper and 4 cups. Three cups are in good condition; one cup has an old break stabilized with adhesive (see detail in photograph). The mirror shows natural silvering oxidation typical of its age, confirming its authenticity. The metal shows surface patina.
Collection value: A highly decorative piece for collectors of antique European glassware or for period interior setting. Due to the fragility of the material and the age of the piece, it is not suitable for dishwasher use.
