Decorative earthenware plate from the prestigious La Cartuja de Sevilla (Pickman S.A.) manufactory, an emblematic piece of Spanish craftsmanship. It features a refined central Orientalist scene showing an exotic palace with palm trees, surrounded by a border of vine leaves and floral motifs in relief on the edge.

History of the object: Founded in 1841 by William Pickman in the former monastery of Santa María de las Cuevas, La Cartuja de Sevilla became a supplier to the Royal Household. This specimen includes the 'Colores inalterables' (unalterable colors) stamp, a mid-20th century technical innovation that ensured the permanence of the pigment against time and use.
