Rare decorative lacquered papier-mâché dish with integrated kinetic diorama, manufactured in the early 20th century. The object features a naturalistic composition protected by a blown glass cover.

Object History: These types of pieces belong to the tradition of curiosity objects (curios) produced during the late Meiji or early Taishō period for the Western export market. Its design reflects the era's interest in automata and kinetic miniatures, combining Oriental lacquering techniques with simple yet effective spring mechanisms.
