An authentic Japanese "Haibai" (這い這い) doll, representing a crawling baby. This type of doll was particularly popular during the post-war Shōwa period, serving as good luck charms for the healthy growth of children.

This piece is representative of mid-20th century Japanese production, combining traditional techniques and materials with those available at the time. The baby's expressive face is molded with great detail, capturing a serene and realistic expression typical of Japanese doll artistry.
