These garments represent the high-quality craftsmanship of Victorian-era layettes. While most infant wear of this period was constructed from cotton or linen for durability, silk examples were reserved for wealthy households or special ceremonial use. The presence of delicate pintucks, machine-made lace inserts, and hand-finished embroidery indicates professional production.
