A curated collection of five antique miniature porcelain souvenir vessels, known colloquially as British Crested China (Crested Ware), dating from the late Victorian to the early Edwardian period. The set features high-quality transfer-printed heraldic municipal crests from various British localities, applied onto stylized ceramic forms replicating classical, historic, or domestic vessels.
Crested ware gained immense popularity in late 19th and early 20th century Britain as affordable, highly collectible travel souvenirs. Adolphus Goss, son of the renowned potter William Henry Goss, revolutionized the market by pairing authentic municipal coats of arms with miniature replicas of archaeological antiquities from museums. Other contemporary English potteries, such as Alexandra China, followed this highly successful format.
