This specimen of English porcelain, produced by the S. Hancock & Sons manufactory in Burslem, belongs to the renowned Trentham series. It features a transferware decoration with a botanical motif of poppies and wildflowers in cobalt blue pigment on a white background.

Object History: S. Hancock & Sons operated in the Stoke-on-Trent pottery district from the mid-19th century until 1937. The Trentham series is noted for its engraving quality and the elegance of its scalloped edges, being an exponent of Edwardian design that remained popular during the interwar period.
