Lot of six antique earthenware plates produced by the prestigious German manufacture Villeroy & Boch at its Mettlach factory. This set belongs to the decorative series named 'Asia', characterized by botanical-inspired floral motifs in intense cobalt blue on a cream background.

Object History: The Mettlach mark is globally recognized for the high quality of its earthenware and stoneware. The stamp on the reverse, which includes the head of Mercury, dates the production of these pieces to the early 20th century. The 'Asia' series is an example of the period's taste for transferware designs combining Art Nouveau style with classic elements.

Details and Condition:
- Period: Approximately 1900-1910.
- Technique: Transferware decoration.
- Size: Diameter of 25 cm (9.8 inches).
- Material: Fine earthenware.
- Condition: The set shows clear signs of age. All pieces exhibit glaze crazing, moisture staining from paste oxidation, and visible chips on the edges. The wear is uniform and consistent with its age.

Use and Value: Due to the mentioned structural and aesthetic defects, these plates are recommended exclusively for decorative use or collecting. They are ideal for wall display or cabinets, providing authentic character to rustic or classic interiors.
