We present a white earthenware decorative plate featuring a canine-themed central illustration created using the transferware technique. Produced in the 1970s, this piece evokes the popular anthropomorphic and genre scenes characteristic of late 19th-century European ceramics.
History of the object: The iconography of dogs in human situations was a recurring theme in earthenware from centers such as Sarreguemines or Staffordshire. This mid-20th-century version retains the classic style with a relief border of plant motifs framing the central black-on-white scene.
