Solid bronze sculpture representing Simhanada Lokeshvara, an esoteric manifestation of Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of Compassion. This deity, known as the "Lion's Roar," is revered in Himalayan Buddhist traditions as a supreme healer who removes diseases and spiritual obstacles.

Object History: The piece follows the aesthetic canons of the Newari school of Nepal. Simhanada is depicted seated in the royal ease posture (maharajalilasana) upon a roaring lion, symbolizing the power of the Dharma to awaken consciousness. This specific iconography is characteristic of Kriya Tantra healing practices and is distinguished by the presence of specific attributes such as the trident (trishula) and the lotus supporting a sword.
