Chinese lobed porcelain box with lid, hand-decorated with polychrome enamels from the Famille Rose palette. The design features floral motifs, butterflies, and insects, topped with a fruit-shaped handle.

Historical Context: These containers, known as sweetmeat boxes, were popular in late Qing Dynasty China (Tongzhi to Guangxu periods). They were pieces intended for both the domestic and export markets, valued for the delicacy of their Fencai enamels. The interior structure divided into compartments suggests an original use for serving small delicacies, although they have historically been repurposed as elegant jewelry boxes.
