Pair of polychrome ceramic tiles manufactured by Minton's China Works in Stoke-on-Trent, England. These pieces form a large-format decorative diptych depicting two cherubs or putti performing gardening tasks with classical tools.

History of the object:
Minton's was one of the most influential ceramic manufacturers of the Victorian era. Following the 1868 reorganization, the tile division operated as Minton's China Works. The design of these pieces is characteristic of the Aesthetic Movement, where black backgrounds were used to highlight polychromy and botanical motifs, elevating everyday objects to the status of art.
