We present a Chinese glazed and hand-painted porcelain snuff bottle, made in the mid-20th century. These pieces, traditional to Oriental craftsmanship, stand out for their fine detailed decoration on both sides and their decorative or utilitarian versatility, ideal for holding oil perfumes or essences.
History of the object: Snuff bottles originated in Qing Dynasty China to hold ground tobacco. Over time, they became highly valued collector's items and symbols of social prestige. This piece reflects the continuation of the meticulous porcelain painting technique of the mid-20th century. One side features a classic misty mountain landscape, while the reverse shows a weeping willow with pink blossoms and a fisherman in his boat.
