Set consisting of a gravy boat and matching plate from the Essex series, manufactured by Keeling & Co in Staffordshire, England. This piece represents the transition from late Victorian style to the botanical aesthetics of the 19th century.

History: The firm Keeling & Co operated at Dale Hall Works starting in 1886. The Late Mayers mark on the reverse indicates the use of patterns acquired from Thomas Mayer's previous administration. The Essex model is notable for its detailed transferware technique and floral motifs, characteristic of high-quality production in the Burslem area.

- Technique: Black transferware on cream earthenware; Victorian style.
