History of the object: At the turn of the 20th century, European manufacturers, particularly in the Limoges region (France), popularized the use of chromolithographic transfers to decorate porcelain known for its whiteness and translucency. These designs often reinterpreted classical themes with a touch of humor or mischief, moving away from traditional academic sobriety.
