Exceptional mid-century skirt produced by Mayan Modern, entirely handcrafted in Guatemala. This piece represents the peak of the 1950s folk-revival fashion, where traditional Mayan textiles were adapted to contemporary Western silhouettes.

History: Mayan Modern was a pioneering firm in the export of high-quality Guatemalan textiles, characterized by the use of backstrap looms and natural dyes. The provenance of this unit, originally from the wardrobe of a Spanish aristocrat, is consistent with the presence of a Relampago metal zipper, common in luxury haberdashery in Spain during the period.

Technical Details:
- Period: 1950s
- Technique: Handwoven cotton with ornamental embroidery
- Material: 100% Cotton
- Closure: Original Relampago metal zipper
